Copper River

This painting has metal leaf, prepared tyvek, and corrugated paper in a mixed media composition on a cradled panel.  I created a piece of tyvek that had many holes in it so that the metal leaf would peak through the holes.

I always like the illusion of looking into a hole with something shiny at the bottom.

This little gem comes ready to hang, or you could jazz it up even more with a floater frame.

Poppy Story

Much as I love poppies, I think this will be the last one for a while.  I'm feeling the urge to get back to some abstract painting.

That's how it goes with my creative muse.  I work in a particular style until I'm saturated with it.  Eventually it starts to bore me.  This one was hard for me to finish, because I'm "finished" with poppies (for a while - I KNOW there will be more.

This 6x8 inch painting is mounted on a black 8x10 panel suitable for standard framing.  I hope you can see the dramatic texture of the petals and bud pods.  I collaged a variety of papers on to the surface to complete the textured look.

This is another art journal for my friend for Christmas. She loves faries and dragonflies so I decided to put both on her journal. I also added affirmations to encourage her when her art critic is giving her a hard time. I used hand painted papers, gel medium with stencils to create texture, acrylic paints and added jewels to give it a little bling.  I tied a fairy charm on her bookmark for good luck. I hope she has fun putting her inspirations in this journal and then lets the magic happen!

Christmas is coming and I have been busy creating gifts for my friends. This is the cover of an art journal. I used papers that I had created with gesso on tissue paper and then used stamps to make the designs. I used matt gel for the textures and liquid acrylics mixed with gesso to make the paint opaque. The bamboo is made from clay and I used oil pastel for the high lights. Gotta have a little bling so I decided the one in the middle would be the focal point so I added red jewels for eyes. I dangled a gold elephant from the bookmark for good luck.

This is a 16 X 20 Mixed Media collage using stamps and matt gel for the texture and found papers. I used acrylic paint for the background and watercolor for the rest of the painting.
