The sculptures make the paintings three dimensional. Multiple layers of cast acrylic are painted and then fused together like glass using resin. Each piece has a steel base with a patina to match.

Celebration of Blue

While I was looking through a stash of stored masterpieces, I came across this mixed media modular abstract. This is one of my rare ventures into the cool side of the palette for all the Blue People out there. You know who you are.

Autumn Elegy

Copper, aluminum, and paper leaves make up this ode to autumn. I rarely frame a painting under glass, but a shadow box treatment works well with this piece.

"RED PALISADE"

If ever a photo does not do a painting justice, it is this one. This painting has layer after layer of glazes of color that makes it look very rich in both color and texture.

My goal was to create an almost monochromatic color scheme in the red family, but close inspection reveals pinks, purples, golds, greens and browns.

I used several metallic foils that have glazes of color over them. Their soft sheen still shows through. For more information on this latest in my geologic abstract series, click here to go to my website.

This painting is a demo I did at my workshop in Littleton over the weekend. It has glazed aluminum, copper tacks, hammered copper wire, and sea shell fragments and is covered with a crystal clear coating of epoxy resin The metals and the epoxy make it very difficult to photograph.
