These sculptures are three dimensional paintings that are free standing and have multiple images depending on the viewing angle. This round piece is a new addition to the collection and I am planning more of various sizes. There are six layers where the waves are painted with liquid mirror and transparent blues and greens. I have drilled into the cast acrylic to make stars appear three dimensional. Interference paints are incorporated and colors shift and change depending on the viewing angle. Side B has a full moon peeking out from the layers of clouds.

Astrophysics and science fiction come together in my imagination. When I close my eyes at night this is what I see, beautifully vibrant and colorful swirling energy clouds and stars. This piece also shows a bit of the Milky Way. The acrylic painting has glass orbs embedded into the paint and reflective paints that will shift from blue to gold to green depending on the viewing angle. This small square format mixed media painting packs a lot of Wow into a small space. I made the papers that are used in the piece while experimenting with paints and papers. My explorations take me into uncharted territory, and I love the soft muted colors combined with holographic film, book pages and the grittiness of embossing powders. You get both grit and glamour in this piece and it would look fantastic on a mini easel next to your bed.
