Torn Paper Collage High Heel Collage Painting

On July 7 I participated in the H. E. B. grocery store Art in the Cart event
in Granbury from 12-4 and began the collage process on this large high
heel. I have finished it this week in my studio but I got a lot of paper
glued in the 4 hours and enjoyed visiting with new friends. It helped
that my cell phone was left in the car so no email checking and the
snacks were too far away so basically I sat and glued. I think this will
be one of my 3 entries into the Arlington Museum of Art show HeART Beat
show with 12 artists and opens August 13 to September 21. Because it
was at H. E. B. I had to add a little grocery ad flyer info on the side
of the painting. (The title comes from some text glued on the collage).
Here
is a closeup below but I hate it that Blogger doesn't give you a way to
rotate your photos and I've added it 3 times after rotating it trying
to get it come through correctly but just can't seem to get it right. If
you know how to rotate pictures in blogger please share and I'll post
it. Anyway the turquoise is supposed to be at the top.

Where's Art?
On
Saturday during the Art in the Cart event at the H E B store in
Granbury TX I was knuckle deep in glue and torn paper and had other
collages out on the table and in a small cart nearby, when a cute older
gentleman came up to the table and said "Where's Art?" I thought he was
being a "smarty pants" with some good Texas joshing and said right
back.. well, look around there is art all in this area, collage, a glass
artist, and a sculptor, and this is art right here under your nose. He
took off his sunglasses, looked at me and said "No, I'm looking for
Art..your better half." I still didn't know if this was a joke or good
Texas humor or if he really thought I had a better half. I said,
"Mister, I think you've got your women mixed up. The only Art in my life
is this collage". I thought this explanation had him satisfied as he
walked away. Later on, he stopped by again and dropped his business card
on the table, "Give this to Art and tell him I said hello." Me giving
up.... "I certainly will. He will be so sorry he missed you."

One day high heel collage workshop:
Nancy
Standlee will give a one day high heel torn paper collage workshop at
the FWCAC July 21, 2012 9:30-4:30. For registration, contact Elaine
Taylor at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center,
Nancy
will be using a high heel for her demo and will work on it during the
class showing the different techniques. The students may use a similar
image to collage along with Nancy, or choose another image
beforehand. Classes will run from 9:30-4:30. $125 for members, $150 for
non-members. Bring a lunch or eat lunch in Z's Cafe. Need more
