Semi-Precious Stones

Bringing in ELEMENTS of the earth into Fine Art

My “Elements” series is a creative blending of semi-precious stones and unique pieces of the earth with traditional fine art. I love finding and using things that were created by nature such as semi-precious stones and sea shells, using them in unique and creative ways.
“I’ve never seen anything like it”  Is the biggest comment I get.
The semi-precious stones I use in my Elements series come from all over the world from various sources. Most of the stones I use have been collected throughout the year in order to work out my compositions and then incorporate them into my paintings.
Each semi-precious stone has individual properties generating energetically from the stone. The energy can be felt by wearing the stone, touching the stone and will fill your room where the art will hang.
I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with its properties. I include properties of the stones with the descriptions. Some stones are healing, energizing, loving, and calming. Some resonate with different chakras and evoke emotions.
I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty found in each semi-precious stone. I hope you enjoy these unique works as much as I enjoy creating them.

Stones Used:

Quartz: Wonderful multi use stone. Enhances energy of all other stones and metals. Harmonious and powerful. Aids communication. Sign of Entire Zodiac.

Stones Used:
Quartz Crystal From the Aurangabad District from Inida: Wonderful multi use stone. Enhances energy of all other stones and metals. Harmonious and powerful. Aids communication. Sign of Entire Zodiac.
Selenite: Selenite is a stone of mental clarity. This clarity enhances mental flexibility and enables strong decision making abilities.  It can affect every day life as full mental clarity into play to lesson confusion and mental disorientation. Selenite is also a stone of truth and honesty. This promotes good business practices as well as honesty in other types of relationships. It is used for contacting and communicating with angels for guidance. It can also be used for finding and working with other spirit guides.
Zeolite and Apophyllite from the Jalgaon District in India: In particular, zeolites are said to be extraordinarily helpful for absorbing and removing toxins, whether it be in the environment or in a person. In a person, this metaphysical aspect makes zeolites excellent healing stones, and they are often used in conjunction with Reiki.
Zeolites are also said to be useful for agriculture or gardening, especially when they are buried in the field or garden.
Zeolites are said to remove negative energy and bring in happiness where the negative energy was.
Chalcedony from the Jalgaon District from Inida

Daily Painting | Abstract Painting | Small Oil Painting | Wishful Thinking by Carol Schiff | 14x11" SOLD

Well, it has happened again.........I had the urge to try my hand at abstract again.

SOLD
I was determined to do a mixed media  abstract, get out my many Golden mediums, and just have a fun day playing.  Kind of like kindergarten.  Why did I think that?

Don't I know that mixed media abstract is one of the most stressful things I can try?  Why don't I remember that my mind goes blank, that I'm not one of those people that can stand in front of a blank canvas and pick up a brush without a plan?

Why do I always think, this time it will be different?

Well it wasn't.  I worked at least 4, maybe 5 hours with my Golden mediums, getting the texture just right, carefully choosing the acrylic colors, blah, blah, blah.  It was a mess.

The next day, I sanded down as much as I could,  turned to my beloved oils, and ended up with this result.  Something I can live with.  Something that might give me a tad more confidence the next time I decide to do an abstract.  Something that I really kind of ........ like.  NEVER GIVE UP!!

MERMAID by artist Dottie Martz, dottiefromvirginia

Original acrylic on 24x26 coffee table  SOLD    website:  dottiemartz.com

Loved painting this for my client.  She had mermaids all over her house.  First, i painted this ion canvas for her bedroom and then she wanted it painted on a coffee table.  No problem.  I have painted hundreds of pieces of furniture.  I finish them with 1015 coats of a polyeurethane and they are so durable you could actually dance on them!

Please check my website for further paintings.
