Expressionist Landscape, Mountains, Cottage,Red Horse,“The Second Time Around” by Oklahoma Artist Nancy Junkin

Recently, while enjoying a London museum with my son, a landscape painting caught my eye. I loved the colors and feel of the painting! So, when back in my studio, I created my version of the scene. The painting’s name comes from the fact it’s actually painted on the top of an older piece. I often find layering a new piece over an existing one very energizing and challenging.

SOUTH PACIFIC by Dottie Martz

                                                                           SOLD

Original oil painting on 24x48 wall faux bamboo frame      website:  dottieartz.com

We couldn't find bamboo frames at the time and we just painted them on the wall with the
painting.  I really wanted more of the 3-D effect with real frames, but, this worked out great and the client loved it.  That is the bottom line.

ITALIAN LAKE SCENE by Dottie Martz Acrylics on folding screen

We visited this lovely place when we were in Italy. I loved all the flowers and the balmy breezes off the lake. it was summer and wonderful. I could live there! Of course, I know it snows, but, we are not talking about that. I painted this on a 3-panel folding Screen for a show and sold it the very first thing! I could have sold 4 more! The screen was found in an antique shop in Hampton several years ago and I didn't know what to paint on it until I went through my travel photos and found this scene. Please check my website for more scenes, pet portraits, landscapes, still life and people portraits. I paint commissions and there is still time before Christmas to have a painting done. My website: dottiemartz.com Hope to see you there!
