"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light."
- Helen Keller
This painting represents leaving something that is not working behind, and following your heart to something better.
The photos in this painting are a broken bridge and a crumbling building, the bright yellows give the painting a feeling of hope.
Painted with many layers of acrylic, charcoal pencil, ink stick, and copies of my b&w photos.
On a wood cradle board

" I feel the earth move under my feet...."
- Carole King
The energy of the green agitated marks in this painting reminded me of the lines produced by a seismograph during an earthquake.
I lived in southern California for many years and have experienced quite a few earthquakes.
Those fearful memories are evident in this painting.
Painted with acrylic, oil pastel, ink pencil, graphite, stencils and mesh tissue paper.
Mounted to a black cradle board.

"Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart"
-Jose N. Harris
This is the first painting I was able to paint after my daughter became ill with a life threatening heart condition.
She was broken and I was heart broken.
The small butterfly shape in the upper left corner gave me hope that she would heal and be well again....and she has.
Painted with acrylic, rice paper, found paper and charcoal.
Mounted to a black cradle board.

They draw me in to take a peek and because I cannot see inside my imagination runs wild!
