Abstract Contemporary Mixed Media Art Painting “MACAW" by Santa Fe Contemporary Artist Sandra Duran Wilson

I began this painting while teaching a workshop on gold leaf. It has texture and a smooth area, all covered in gold leaf. The painting is made n top of this. The painting also has interference and iridescent paints and the whole piece just glows. It is framed in a black wood floater frame, ready to hang.

Texture Trifecta with Sandra Duran Wilson
May 5-7, 2017 in Austin, TX

I can't stay away. I will be returning to the wonderful Ampersand Gallery in Buda (next to Austin) for a 3 day workshop. We will be hitting the trifecta by combining implied and applied textures, building deep surfaces and carving back into them and adding elements we make. If you like texture, this is the class for you. We will have 3 days to build our surfaces on the Ampersand panels using acrylic pastes, gels, plaster, clay products, faux concrete and even glass. I will show you how to create some unique "metallic" papers to incorporate into your layers. Come join the fun and Ampersand has some GREAT deals for us following the workshop. I look forward to sharing a lot of new paints, materials and products with you. All supplies are included. Simply bring your brushes and tools.
