"Aspen Lights and Shadows"
12x25 mixed media on 1 3/4" cradled panel
Being new to this blog I thought I would start with my breakthrough piece into the style I now call my own. Being a painter for over 30 years I tried oil, watercolor, acrylic, fiber arts, and a few others before I realized that something was missing. I needed to find a style that I could settle on, but was unwilling to give up working with variety. Variety of media, variety in style, variety, variety, variety. In short, I worked a medium until I felt stifled and bored in some way and went looking for something to stimulate my creative vision. SO, I developed a set of questions to ask myself, and then some specific challenges to FIND what I could find a LOT of excitement in, a LOT of inspiration, and working in paper and acrylic and sometimes oil, BUT working in a recognizable way found me.

"Aspen Lights and Shadows" reflects my love of trees, my love of color and texture; the whole shebang so to speak. I sometimes add words as I have in this piece.."Aspen Lights and Shadows Weave Through" was my first. And, sometimes I just stream color throughout and paint subject matter on top. I am honored to be able to share this journey with you all!
