Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Art Paintings "Copper Caverns" by Contemporary Arizona Artist Pat Stacy

The caverns of our lives often can be represented by symbols--and I have attempted to do that similarly to petroglyphs. The copper is metal paint that turns beautiful blues and greens when patina is applied. Accented by a darker copper in the descending squares, this piece is truly lovely.

This painting is fresh off the easel!  Mom and her baby are sleeping among the trees.  It has many layers and was done with paint and acrylic inks.  It was an intuitive painting inspired by the painting styles of Tracy Verdugo and Juliette Crane.

Acrylic on highly Textured Wood Panel. This was a fun piece to do. It was a bit of an experiment in which I  used a Brayer, Palette Knife and a Brush to get the finished effect.  I use a Brayer for a lot of my Backgrounds on my Collages but this time I incorporated it more into the actual painting.

Every once in a while I have to try something abstract.  This one is all about texture and the red under painting.

I mixed sand from the beach into the gesso.

It's always fun to experiment, especially when I start to take my painting a little too seriously.
